Curse of the Cat People
There may be no stranger sequel than Curse of the Cat People (1944). Directed by Gunther von Fritsch and Robert Wise, it was meant as a follow up to the horror classic Cat People, and features many of the same characters. That's where all similarities end. There are no scares in this dreamy story of a lonely little girl (Ann Carter) who keeps company with the ghost of her dead mother (Simone Simon). It's a moody, gorgeously weird, and poignant tribute to childhood imagination. —Elizabeth Imrie
